Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 5 minutes. Optionally, spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Season the Chicken: Place the chicken thighs into a large zip-top bag or bowl with a lid. Add kosher salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, oregano, and onion powder. Seal and shake or mix well to evenly coat the chicken.
  3. Initial Air Frying: Arrange the seasoned chicken thighs skin side down in the preheated air fryer basket. Cook for 12 minutes to start rendering the fat and crisping the skin.
  4. Flip and Continue Cooking: Turn the chicken thighs so the skin side is facing up. Continue cooking for an additional 10 to 15 minutes. For extra crispy skin, cook in 4-minute increments until desired crispness is achieved.
  5. Check for Doneness and Serve: The chicken is ready when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part of the thigh using a meat thermometer. Remove from air fryer and serve immediately.
