Ingredients:

  • 1 kg (approximately 3 pounds) of fresh strawberries
  • 800 grams (approximately 2.52.8 pounds) of sugar
  • 1 L of water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Syrup: Pour water in a pot, add sugar, place on the stove, dissolve sugar, and boil the syrup for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add Strawberries: Add strawberries to the syrup and boil for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and strain the syrup.
  3. Dry the Strawberries: Preheat the oven to 200°F. Place the strawberries on a tray and bake in the oven until they are dry on the outside but still tender, turning them occasionally. This may take around 5 hours.
  4. Cool and Preserve: Allow the candied strawberries to cool. Enjoy them as a dessert or store them in a mason jar for preservation. Candied strawberries can be kept for up to a year when prepared this way.
