Ingredients
Scale
Produce
- 1/2 cup ginger root (cut into small pieces, peel on)
- 3 lemons (juiced)
- 1 orange (peeled)
Spices and Sweeteners
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/8 tsp ground cayenne
- 1 tbsp honey
Liquids
- 1/2 cup water (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ginger: Wash the ginger thoroughly while keeping the peel on and slice it into thin pieces to prepare it for blending.
- Blend Ingredients: Add the sliced ginger, lemon juice, peeled orange, turmeric powder, honey, and ground cayenne into a food processor. Blend on high until the mixture is pureed and smooth. If the puree is too thick, add the optional water and blend again to achieve a smoother consistency.
- Strain the Mixture: Line a colander with cheesecloth and place it over a bowl. Pour the ginger puree into the cheesecloth to drain the liquid, extracting the fresh juice from the pulp.
- Serve: Pour the strained ginger shot liquid evenly into 4 shot glasses. You can enjoy these shots immediately or reserve them for later consumption.
Notes
- Leaving the ginger peel on preserves more nutrients and flavor.
- Adjust cayenne pepper to taste for more or less spiciness.
- The water is optional and helps adjust the thickness of the shot.
- Store any leftover shots in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Shake well before drinking if stored.
