Instructions

  1. Assemble the Potpourri Jars: Add the ingredients of your chosen stovetop potpourri recipe into a clean mason jar. Secure the jar with a festive label and instructions, tying it with twine, string, or ribbon. Embellish the outside with cinnamon sticks, a sprig of rosemary or pine, or dried orange slices tied with twine for added charm.
  2. Prepare for Use: When ready to enjoy, pour the contents of the jar into a pot filled halfway with water. Add optional fresh ingredients such as 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, fresh herbs, or sliced oranges or apples to enhance the aroma.
  3. Simmer: Place the pot on the stove over low heat. Allow the mixture to simmer gently without a lid, releasing the fragrant scents throughout your home.
  4. Monitor Water Levels: Keep a close eye on the pot to ensure it does not dry out. Add water as needed to maintain the simmer and prevent burning. Setting a timer is recommended if you might forget to check.
  5. Reuse: The potpourri mixture can be kept simmering and refreshed with water over several days to continue enjoying the holiday fragrances.
