  • Author: lina
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 24 appetizer cups 1x

Description

These Jalapeño Popper Wonton Cups are a delicious and easy appetizer combining crispy wonton wrappers with a creamy, spicy jalapeño and bacon filling. Perfect for parties or snacking, they feature a cheesy, savory blend baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Wonton Cups

  • 24 Wonton Wrappers
  • Cooking Spray (for greasing muffin tray)

Filling

  • 8 oz Cream Cheese, softened
  • 2 Large Jalapeños, seeded and diced
  • 1 Cup Bacon Bits
  • 2 Tbsp Milk
  • ½ Cup Cheddar Cheese, hand shredded
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for toasting the wonton wrappers.
  2. Prepare Wonton Cups: Spray a muffin tray with cooking spray. Place two wonton wrappers crisscrossed into each muffin cup. This layering helps create a sturdy cup. Place the tray in the oven and toast the wonton wrappers until they are slightly golden and crisp.
  3. Make Filling: In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, diced jalapeños, bacon bits, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly mixed into a creamy filling.
  4. Adjust Oven Temperature: Once the wonton cups are toasted, reduce the oven heat to 350°F (175°C) for baking the filled cups.
  5. Fill Wonton Cups: Spoon the jalapeño popper filling evenly into the center of each toasted wonton cup, filling them generously but without overflowing.
  6. Bake Filled Cups: Return the muffin tray to the center rack of the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the wonton wrappers are golden and the cheese filling is melted and bubbling.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the wonton cups to cool slightly in the pan before carefully removing them. Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy this tasty appetizer!

Notes

  • For less heat, remove all jalapeño seeds before dicing.
  • Use fresh shredded cheddar cheese for best melting and flavor.
  • Can substitute bacon bits with cooked crumbled bacon for a fresher option.
  • Keep an eye on the wontons while toasting to avoid burning as ovens vary.
  • Serve with a side of ranch or sour cream for dipping if desired.
