For the Steak:
- 1 ½ pounds of sirloin (chopped into cubes)
- 1 tablespoon EACH of chili powder and ancho chili powder
- 1 teaspoon EACH of garlic powder, ground cumin, brown sugar, and onion powder
- ½ teaspoon EACH of dried oregano, ground coriander, and smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional)
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- Salt and ground black pepper (to taste)
For Serving:
- 8 corn tortillas
- 1 tub of sour cream
- 1 pack of cotija cheese
- 1 jar of store-bought guacamole
- 1 jar of store-bought salsa
- 1 jar of pickled red onions
- Chopped cilantro (for garnish)
- Hot sauce of your choice (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Steak: Pat the sirloin steak dry and chop into bite-sized cubes.
- Make the Spice Rub: Mix chili powders, garlic powder, cumin, brown sugar, onion powder, oregano, coriander, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
- Season the Steak: Toss steak cubes with vegetable oil and spice rub.
- Marinate: Let the steak sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Heat Skillet: Warm vegetable oil in a cast iron skillet.
- Sear the Steak: Cook steak for 1-2 minutes per side until browned.
- Finish Cooking: Continue cooking for 3-5 minutes until done.
- Assemble Tacos: Pile steak onto tortillas and top with desired toppings.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with cilantro and serve with hot sauce if desired.
