Pink Popcorn Recipe

  • Author: lina
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 6 servings 1x

Description

Pink Popcorn is a delightful, colorful twist on classic popcorn, coated with a sweet, creamy, pink sugar glaze. This treat combines crispy popcorn with a smooth, vanilla-flavored syrup, tinted a charming shade of pink, making it perfect for parties, movie nights, or festive occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn

  • 12 cups popped popcorn

Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ⅓ cup half and half or evaporated milk
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 drops red or pink food coloring

Instructions

  1. Pop Popcorn: Pop your popcorn and measure 12 cups. Place it in a large bowl and carefully remove any unpopped kernels to prevent biting into hard pieces later.
  2. Prepare Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, half and half (or evaporated milk), light corn syrup, and salt. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture begins to boil. Allow it to boil gently for 3 to 4 minutes to develop the syrup.
  3. Add Flavor and Color: Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract along with 2 to 3 drops of red or pink food coloring. Mix well until the syrup achieves an even pink color and the flavors are fully blended.
  4. Coat Popcorn: Pour the hot syrup evenly over the prepared popcorn. Gently stir the popcorn to coat all pieces thoroughly without crushing them.
  5. Cool and Serve: Spread the coated popcorn on a sheet of parchment paper in a single layer. Let it cool completely to allow the syrup to set before serving your beautifully pink popcorn.

Notes

  • Be sure to remove all unpopped kernels before coating to avoid any hard bites.
  • You can adjust the amount of food coloring to achieve your preferred shade of pink.
  • This popcorn is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • For a dairy-free option, substitute half and half with coconut milk or another plant-based milk.
