Stuffed Mushroom Dip Recipe

  • Author: lina
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

A creamy and savory stuffed mushroom dip featuring sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and a blend of cream cheese, sour cream, and cheeses, baked until golden and bubbly. Perfect for serving warm as an appetizer with bread, crackers, or vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Dairy and Cheese

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Seasonings

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Sauté Mushrooms: Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 8-10 minutes until browned and tender. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more to release its aroma.
  2. Create Creamy Base: Reduce heat to low. Add cream cheese and sour cream to the skillet, stirring continuously until they melt and the mixture becomes smooth and fully combined.
  3. Add Cheese and Season: Stir in half of the shredded mozzarella cheese and all the grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well until the dip is creamy and evenly blended.
  4. Bake the Dip: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese evenly on top of the mixture. Transfer the skillet to a preheated oven set at 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until the dip is bubbly and the cheese on top turns golden brown.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from the oven, garnish with fresh thyme or parsley, and serve the dip hot with bread, crackers, or vegetable sticks for dipping.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh parsley if you don’t have thyme on hand or vice versa.
  • For a richer flavor, use butter instead of olive oil for sautéing.
  • This dip can be prepared ahead to the baking step and refrigerated; bake right before serving.
  • Use a cast-iron skillet or any oven-safe skillet for transferring from stovetop to oven.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more salt or pepper if desired.
